“High Stakes Conflict: The Critical Importance of Victory in Ukraine”

Miloslav Stašek, the Czech Ambassador to the United States since September 2022, delivered the 2022 Czech and Slovak Freedom titled “High Stakes Conflict: The Critical Importance of Victory in Ukraine,” at the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center in Washington on November 15. During his lecture, Ambassador Stašek addressed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and highlighted its devastating impact on peace and stability in Europe and beyond.

Miloslav Stašek

Miloslav Stašek became the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United States in September 2022. A career diplomat since 1999, he held the highest positions at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including becoming the Secretary of State in 2022. Previously, he served as Deputy Minister (2016-2017), Director of the Economic Diplomacy Department (2015-2017), Ambassador to India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan (2010-2015); Egypt and Sudan (2007-2010), and Director of the Middle East and Africa Department (2005 – 2007). Between 1999-2005, he was a Czech high-ranking diplomat serving in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
