Friends of Slovakia (FOS) is pleased to announce that its Board Members, including Jan Surotchak, Tom Skladony, and Bibiana Rais, met with the newly appointed Slovak Ambassador to the United States, Andrej Droba, during his first weeks in Washington. The meeting, held at the Slovak Embassy on November 11, was conducted in a warm and constructive atmosphere, underscoring a shared commitment to strengthening U.S.–Slovak relations.
FOS and Ambassador Droba discussed opportunities to expand public diplomacy, cultural outreach, and community engagement throughout his tenure. Both sides expressed enthusiasm for co-hosting events that highlight Slovakia’s presence in the United States and foster meaningful connections between the Slovak Embassy, Slovak-American communities, and U.S. partners.
As part of this renewed partnership, FOS looks forward to organizing a “Welcome to Washington” gathering to introduce Ambassador Droba to members of the policy, cultural, and diplomatic communities. Additional opportunities for cooperation were also identified in conjunction with upcoming embassy events and broader initiatives planned for 2026.
