Václav Klaus is a Czech economist and politician who held the positions of President from 2003 to 2013 and Prime Minister from 1992 to 1997. He founded the Civic Forum Movement (OF), the leading political organization in the country after the Velvet Revolution of 1989. Currently, he leads The Václav Klaus Institute, a newly formed liberal-conservative think tank. Klaus is a member of the Mont Pelerin Society and has been bestowed with sixteen honorary doctorates in nine countries, nineteen international awards, and has published over thirty books.
