30 Years of Slovak Economy

In partnership with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Washington, D.C., and the Slovak American Society of Washington, D.C. (SASW), Friends of Slovakia hosted the third event in Slovakia@30 Series, a conversation on “30 Years of Slovak Economy” with Ivan Mikloš, President of MESA 10 and former Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of the Slovak Republic, currently also advising the President of the Slovak Republic. 

The event was moderated by Prof. Julius Horváth, Professor at the Central European University, Budapest, Hungary, and Vienna, Austria.

Ivan Mikloš is a renowned Slovak economist and politician, serving as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Deputy Prime Minister for Economy, and Minister of Privatization. He significantly contributed to the entry of the Slovak Republic into the OECD, NATO, and the EU and instigated an extensive and effective tax reform. He co-founded and currently leads the economic think tank MESA10. He also served in Ukraine as Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister, Advisor to the Minister of Finance, and Minister of Economic Development and Trade. He chaired the Strategic Advisory Group for Support of Ukrainian Reforms (SAGSUR) and co-founded the Centre for Economic Strategy, a prominent Ukrainian economic think tank.
